We are going to do something differently this evening with Skywarn.

The NWS in Charleston, WV and the NWS in Pittsburgh have both contacted us asking for our snow totals in North Central West Virginia.

Accordingly, we are going to hold a scheduled, but brief, Net this evening at 20:00 (8 PM.) The Net will be held on the W8MWA two-meter repeater. (145.430 MHz, PL 103.5 Hz, -600 offset.)

During the Net we will receive your snowfall measurements and forward them to the NWS.

*** Again, to do this all you need a ruler (plastic or wood preferably) stuck in the snow. Nothing fancier than that is necessary. ***

From the NWS Pittsburgh:

340pm radar update.

Snow squalls continue to move rapidly southeastward through North Central West Virginia . Expect this to continue at least through 5pm.
You will see a rapid reduction of visibility, snow covered roads due to a quick accumulation up to an inch, and winds to 30 mph.

Take extra caution if you will be venturing out this afternoon and evening.

See the attached graphic—and talk with you during the at 8 PM this evening.
