FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING

NWS Pittsburgh PA Extends in area the Flood Watch for Preston WV, Ridges of Eastern Monongalia and Northwestern Preston WV- Including the cities of Bruceton Mills, Kingwood, and Coopers Rock

 * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

 * WHERE...Portions of North Central West Virginia, including the following areas, Preston and Ridges of Monongalia and Preston Counties.

 * WHEN...From 8 PM EDT this evening through Friday evening.

 * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

 * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Debby will potentially bring heavy rainfall over the watch area late tonight through sunset on Friday. Rain totals of 1.5 to 3.0 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts of up to 4 inches possible.

* PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor the W8MWA two-meter repeater, local forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

*** Note: The NC WV SKYWARN Net will operate in Standby mode starting at 20:00 this evening. Standby Mode means that all local ham operators are requested to monitor the M8MWA two-meter repeater. However, the repeater will remain available for all normal amateur radio activity.

Bill, W2BSA, has pointed out that Decker's Creek originates in Preston County. And while Morgantown and Fairmont are out of the flood watch area now (just barely) heavy rainfall in Preston and Tucker Counties could cause local creeks to potentially flood.
