The Pittsburgh NWS is very appreciative of all the help from the MWA and the hams who participated in this evening’s Monongalia County ARES SKYWARN Net.
I did not know it at the time, but we were especially needed tonight. During the height of the storm, the Pittsburgh RADAR went down. The Pittsburgh NWS was totally blind to what was occurring in Monongalia, Marion and Preston Counties. Not just low level stuf. Everything!
*** We were their only eyes and ears! ***
And we gave them all the information that they needed. Well done!
As a thanks of sorts, the NWS sent us the attached image that they created of the heavy precipitation tonight. This was the rain that warranted the flash flood warning in northern West Virginia. The graphic shows the 2.0 - 2.5" of rainfall that fell here tonight.
Look for your QTH on the map and see how your location did!
73 and a sincere thanks,
Jeff, WB1AAL
