As you know Field Day is this weekend at Camp Mountaineer in Grafton. We’ll begin setting up in the morning and the official start is 1800 UTC (2:00 PM) Sat, but I can assure you there will be radios in operation sooner. We will have a few radios set up that anyone can use or you can bring your own setup. There will be plenty of power thanks to the WVU guys who are planning to bring their generator.

There is a Foxhunt planned so bring your hunting equipment.

Also planned is a ‘potluck’ so feel free to add something to the table (not required, we’ll feed you regardless).

As of yesterday we have a new addition to the activities, a Black Box Raffle.  As many of you know, the Mon Cty ARC does a ‘Black Box’ raffle at their monthly meetings. We never know all the contents of the box until the actual meeting date because members donate the items. While I doubt there will be a 991A or a 7300 in the box there have been tools, HTs, a dummy load, a practice keyer, books, even a bottle of whiskey (which BTW, was probably the most popular item ever) in it. The box contains new and used items but no junk, or as Hams say, no ‘boat anchors’. These are not Dollar Store items, it’s well worth the $5 per ticket. You can buy as many as you like and anyone can enter and win (unless another bottle of whiskey shows up. You’ll need to be 21 or give it to a friend if you win that). Drawing will be approximately 1700 (that’s 5:00 PM for you civilian types).

If you happen to have anything (that is in good condition) lying around that you think will be useful to another Ham, feel free to add it to the box.
