This Saturday (10/8/22) an "Emergency Services Day" is being held at Camp Mountaineer.  We are planning to operate a station under the "When All Else Fails" marketing program from ARRL.  They are expecting about 200 scouts for the event.  There will be activity stations by Mon EMS, Mon Co Public Health, Mountaineer Area Rescue Group, Healthnet, and other organizations.  The event runs 8 - 5 on Saturday (if you are available for a shorter time that would still help).

We plan to set up an HF station, plus have an assortment of VHF/UHF radios on hand (to emphasize how inexpensive the hobby can be) - we will discuss and have literature on the role of Ham Radio when infrastructure fails.  On the HF station we will try to make some contacts and list the places we contacted (demonstrating what radio can do without infrastructure).  While it would be great if the scouts want to get on the air, this is not JOTA weekend so there will not be a focus on getting each scout talking to another scout on the air.

Randy N8OZY and Mig K8MIG are planning to be there.  I will be there but with varied responsibilities, so I may not be at the booth full time.  It would be helpful if we could get one or two more hams to help out with the event. You do not need to be licensed, we will have a control op available.

If you are available please email me cwerntz1@gmail.com and let me know your availability.
