Due to a Tornado Warning for Preston and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Preston and Tucker Counties, we have reactivated the North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net on the W8MWA repeater.

733 AM EDT Thu Jun 18 2026

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Southeastern Preston County in northeastern West Virginia...

* Until 745 AM EDT.

* At 733 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 8 miles south of Terra Alta, moving east at 65 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
           to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
           likely.

* Locations impacted include...
  Aurora, Cathedral State Park and Elgon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building
away from windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a
vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself
from flying debris.
