Thanks to everyone who checked into the North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net yesterday during the Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings. Whether you had a report or not, your participation with the net and the fact that you were there was incredibly important.
And kudos to Tom, W8ZHN, for a terrific job running our Skywarn Net for over eight hours!
The NWS is now submitting our reports without question to Emergency Management, first responders and the local media. And they are crediting amateur radio and adding your calls to your reports.
In the past none of this occurred. Our reports had been combined and summarized.
However, the NWS has come to trust and rely on our reports. So they are now listing them verbatim and appropriately crediting them. This is a major plus for amateur radio in our community. This also demonstrates that we are sincere in fulfilling the public service requirement for our licenses.
So, again, thank you for a job well done!
Jeff, WB1AAL
