On August 1, 2026 I will be stepping down as Net Control and coordinator of
the North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net.
Skywarn has been an enjoyable, rewarding and totally pleasurable
experience. However, it has become necessary for me to reevaluate my time
and my priorities.
So what will be next for the North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net? Its
value to the NWS Pittsburgh and to West Virginia Emergency Management has
been obvious.
I have spoken with Fred McMullen Skywarn Coordinator for the NWS
Pittsburgh; Tom Mullins, W8ZHN and Jason Hatfield, KD8FDD, who manages the
Appalachia Skywarn Net. We have decided the best way to grow Skywarn in
West Virginia is to merge the Appalachia Skywarn Net and the North Central
West Virginia Skywarn Net. This will occur on August 1, 2026.
I have throughly enjoyed working with the local hams who have supported the
North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net. Your participation in the Net and
reports to the NWS Pittsburgh are sincerely and deeply appreciated!
73 and thanks,
Jeff, WB1AAL
