[W8MWA] URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE-Winter Weather & Skywarn Activation

*Note: The amount of snowfall in Marion and Monongalia Counties has been
pulled back by the NWS Pittsburgh to one to three inches of additional
accumulation. However, the NWS still expects heavy snow in Preston and
Tucker Counties of between 6 and 12 inches.  *

*Given this, the North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net will activate in
Standby Mode at 1300 EST (1 PM) on the W6MWA repeater. We will continue
hourly at the top of the hour looking especially for conditions in Preston
and Tucker Counties. Stations in those locations are requested to report
snowfall. However, stations in all locations are welcome to check-in and
let us know that you are monitoring.*

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations between 8 and 14 inches.
Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...Eastern Tucker County.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile at times tonight and
Monday due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds could cause
sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Gusty
winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in
visibility.
