*A reminder that the North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net has been
activated on the W8MWA two-meter repeater. If you have not checked in yet,
please do. Let us know your snowfall reports. Just stick a ruler in the
snow--and please don't worry if your report is that you have little to no
snow. That's just as valuable to the NWS as a heavy snow report.*
>From the NWS Charleston, WV:
*A moderate to locally heavy snow band is situated across portions of
north-central WV. Under this heavier band of snow, rates are 0.5" to 1.0"
per hr. **With falling temperatures, expect deteriorating conditions
through the evening. The heaviest and highest snowfall rates still appear
to be in the 10 PM to 1 AM time frame.*
And from the NWS Pittsburgh:
*Many main roads were slick or snow covered and almost all side roads were
snow covered. Any currently wet or slushy spots will freeze over in the
coming hours and travel conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly now
that we are after sunset. If you can avoid going out, please do. If you
must travel, leave extra time to get to your destination, drive slowly,
leave extra distance in between you and other cars and do not drive faster
than you are comfortable with.*
