[W8MWA] Advisory: Current Winter Storm Update

For those who are looking for a weather update, below is the latest Winter
Storm update from the NWS Pittsburgh.

The Winter Storm Warning is still in effect for most of North Central West
Virginia with total snow accumulations expected to between 5 and 8 inches
in Morgantown and Fairmont. The timing for the storm is now from 15:00 (3
PM) EST this afternoon to 05:00 (5 AM) EST Sunday.

The biggest change overnight is an increase in total snow accumulations for
Preston and Tucker Counties of between 6 and 12 inches with winds gusting
as high as 35 mph. There is also a warning of very cold temperatures in
Eastern Tucker County. Wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below zero expected
there.

According to RADAR at 09:15 EST, the storm is approaching Columbus, Ohio.
It stretches all the way back to Pierre, South Dakota--over 900 air miles
in length.

become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Localized higher amounts could occur in snow bands.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go
outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer
than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of
frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat
will keep you from losing your body heat.

Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in
visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you,
and allow extra time to reach your
destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially
cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized
and in good working order.
