Including the cities of Fairmont, Morgantown, Coopers Rock, Kingwood,
Bruceton Mills, Terra Alta, Rowlesburg,
Hazelton
...INCREASED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON...
Low relative humidity values, resulting from exceptionally dry weather,
will impose an increased risk for fire danger this afternoon. Relative
humidity values are expected to drop into the 20 to 30 percent range across
the lower elevations of North Central West Virginia and 30 to 40 percent
along the higher terrain. In addition, wind gusts out of the east up to 20
miles per hour will be possible, highest along the mountains.
Avoid activities that cause open flames or sparks as fires can spread
within these weather conditions.
Note from Jeff: We may get some relief over the next few days from a
tropical storm that is developing near South Carolina. The NWS Pittsburgh
is begging to talk about some rain potential for our area. How much rain we
will receive and whether it will make a dent in our D2 level Severe
Drought is not certain at this time.
