156841 was my Badge Number issued out of the North Building in January 1980.
I sat in the “fish bowl” for about 4 months before getting read in on the
Project I hired into.
248681 was a bank account number, I think at the First National Bank of Morgantown (which no longer exists!)
Now, something less trivial and more fun:
As they say: “DX IS!”
I just got a new contact on 20 meters (14.3 MHz) RU3RCL Toly in MICHURINSK, RUSSIA. That’s in Southwest Russia, not that far from the Ukraine.
20 Meters was pretty good tonight, it seems, and it was the CANADA DAY
Contest, so I did about a half-dozen of those.
I also earlier talked to SM5X Pete in Stockholm, Sweden.
This is all with “100 Watts And A Wire” – no big amplifier, no tower and beam.

Well, my TI badge was 153668, starting July 1979 in Lewisville. It depended on which site you started, as NB and SC had a different first few numbers at that time.

No – 248681 was NOT my TI badge. It was 156841. Or something like that.
Now I have to figure out what the 248681 was.
So… are you guys still out at Possum Kingdom?
