Dear fellow MWA members:
I hope this message finds you all doing well.
You don’t need me to tell you that this year has been a difficult one for
Americans, as well as the rest of the civilized world.
Somewhere in the grand scheme of things, the effect COVID-19 has had on the
way radio amateurs personally interact with each other has been
significant, starting in the Mountain State with the sudden cancellation of
the West Virginia Section Convention in Charleston. In quick order, being
able to meet physically has met with many challenges. The last in-person
Monongalia Wireless Association regular meeting was held about eight months
ago.
Some have attended the on-line Zoom meetings and we’ve been able to conduct
some business in this way – providing for some level of continuity. One
important function that looms upon us is the nomination and election of
officers for 2021. Normally, this is something we do in person, but that
is not a possibility at the moment.
We can accept nominations and hold the election during the October 20, 2020
on-line Zoom meeting. I have spoken to our other officers. Spence as well
as Mig are agreeable to serve another term as Vice-President and
Secretary/Treasurer, respectively. I am also agreeable to serving another
term as President. If that is acceptable to all of our members, then the
procedure is a simple set of nominations and election by affirmation.
If one of you wishes to nominate a member and another will second that
nomination for a particular office - then we will have an election between
those candidates. Zoom has a way to allow attendees to cast and tally
votes.
If you have any suggestions or comments regarding the above – or the good
of the MWA – please let me know via email at WA3UVV at gmail.com.
Best regards,
Cory Sickles, WA3UVV
