Attached is a list of the Morgantown Area Repeaters.

If you have a few free minutes while we are all trapped at home, please
check your radios and make sure that you have all of the repeaters and
simplex frequencies programmed into your radios.

"But I only use 2 repeaters, why should I program the rest?" - If you want
to assist with emergency communications, there are several reasons:
- Each of these repeaters has slightly different coverage, and since
communications may be needed in different places, having all of the
repeaters programmed provides the most flexibility.
- Repeaters are man made - they can fail, loose power, etc. Having a
backup capacity is never a bad idea.
- In a larger emergency there may be need for more than one net (one
supporting Red Cross shelters, another supporting Emergency Management,
perhaps another for Health and Welfare traffic or digital transmissions).
Having these on separate repeaters makes the communications flow smoother.

So....If you are looking for a coronavirus project that will make you more
prepared to assist your community, spend some time getting ALL of our local
repeaters programmed into your portable, mobile, and home radios.

If you have a radio that is Part-90 type accepted (some of the Chinese
radios are) and want to have even more capacity to assist disaster
communications, you might want to add the VTAC and UTAC channels.

The best reference is in the National Interoperability Field Operations
Guide (NIFOG)
www.dhs.gov › xlibrary › assets › nifog-v1-4-resized-for-pda-viewing
<https://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/nifog-v1-4-resized-for-pda-viewing.pdf>
The page numbers are confusing - see their page 27 (document page 31) &
their page 29 (document page 33) for the VTAC and UTAC channels.
Regardless, look through this very useful reference guide - you might want
to have a copy in your go kit.

See you on the air soon. 73, Carl WA3ZZU
