It's off and running! Worked KE8JIT on 5 bands tonight for the elusive
"Whiskey Victor" (West Virginia = Contest DX) multiplier... 80, 40, 20, 15,
and 10 Meters. (We BOTH sounded GREAT on 10 and 15 Meters!) Then I worked
7 other stations in 6 more ARRL Sections for the multipliers before signals
and players went to bed... mainly on 40 meters this time of night. I
figure things will get busier starting on Saturday and through next week.
ARRL members add "/150" ... stroke 150... to their call sign and they are
worth 2 points... ( i.e. "WT8WV/150"). Non-ARRL members are worth 1 point
plus any multiplier value. I suggest you set up an addition LOTW
Certificate associated with your regular call sign since some of you ARRL
members will be using / adding the "/150" to your call sign. I added the
"WT8WV/150" LOTW Certificate so I can keep track of the HPM150 Contest
unique call sign and eventually associate it with my primary call sign.
Folks this is one of the easiest and most laid back contests of the year!
Try it! Make a simple goal of contacting 10 "stroke 150" stations and 3
multipliers! Let us know how you do! Maybe we'll put together a laid back
contesting group! GET RADIOACTIVE! This is an EASY contest to play in!
Download the free FREE software from N3FJP for this special contest...
http://www.n3fjp.com/hpmaxim.html My hope is that the ARRL adds this as
an annual contest event to encourage hams not only to join the ARRL (the
magazine ALONE is worth the membership!) but to add a fun and easy contest
that EVERYONE can enjoy once a year! (I'm going to the WVU football game
tomorrow afternoon but will be contesting tomorrow night and off an on
during the 9 day contest... let me know if you want a "WHISKEY VICTOR"
multiplier and I'll try to get on the air to help you!
