[W8MWA] W8MWA Survey Results January 2018

These survey results are not scientific.  They are merely a small sampling
of our monthly Monongalia Wireless Association audiences, on a single
night, by a show of hands.  Given the small sampling size we can only make
loose inferences as to any larger amateur radio populations, however we can
use the information to ascertain various levels of activity of our
association members, look for opportunities to bring learning programs to
our association based upon interest in various niches of the hobby, assess
emergency communications capability in the area, and to find like-minded
hams to associate within our own interests.  The methodology is simple;
divide the number of responses to a survey question by the total by the
total people in the room during the survey.

How many club members use ARRL Logbook of The World (LoTW)?
              36%         9/25

How many club members have their own personal printed QSL cards?
                44%       11/25

How many club members have an HF radio station?
                             76%       19/25

How many club members have a VHF radio station capability?
                       96%       24/25

How many club members have a UHF radio station capability?
                       92%       23/25

How many club members have used the AM mode of communication?
              36%         9/25

How many club members have used the HF FM mode of communication?
           20%         5/25

How many club members have used CW / Morse Code communication?
           24%         6/25


What can we learn from these simple percentages of actual membership
engagement in our hobby?
