[W8MWA] W8MWA Digest, Vol 86, Issue 8

You guys plan to present in April for the Monongalia Wireless Association
program! It would be great to re-ignite interest in APRS in this area! At
one time, WF8X (Jack Coster) had a weather station on top of Percival Hall
that spit out weather data. I would love to see us get a station up at the
repeater site, too. With 52% of our regular attendees having System Fusion
rigs of one form or the other, many of them have APRS capability built-in.
I have a couple older 2 meter rigs I'd like to put into service again
somehow. I am saving up for a FT2D handheld so I can use the portable APRS
feature for our marathons, walks and bike races in the area when we do
support comms. I have never done APRS but want to learn. The nuts and
bolts of APRS, some use-cases (including balloon chases and search /
rescue) and ease of entry to a reasonably priced solution would be an
excellent program for the club! Would love to hang the info off the MWA
website, as well! Git 'er done!
