For those interested in radio direction finding this is a very nice (small) unit that covers the 2 meter band (and the VHF aircraft emergency channels) The unit includes the receiver and includes an attenuator. You need to add your own beam antenna, but they are easy to build.
I am planning to purchase one, and since shipping from VK land gets pricey I thought I would offer it to others in the club to at least save on shipping.
If you are interested in participating in the group buy, please contact me directly cwerntz at hsc.wvu.edu<mailto:cwerntz at hsc.wvu.edu> in the next week or so. I hope to order around November 10th.
Thanks, Carl

Carl,
Thank you for your interest in the MK4 sniffer. Apologies for the delay getting back to you. Things have been busy this year in the lead up to JOTA.
At the current exchange rate the standard (120-123,143-150MHz) MK4 sniffer (without postage) is US$144. There can be some saving for multiple units. But this depends on the quantity involved and for smaller quantities any saving will mainly be with postage. The new version 4.0 sniffer is now available.
There are now two options for (single unit) postage:
1). Standard airmail. $31. Insured against loss or damage, trackable, 5-7 days. This is the recommended option.
2). Economy airmail. $18. No insurance, not trackable, 7-9 days. If you are really strapped for cash you can request this option, but I strongly advise against it.
Exchange rates are all over the place at the moment and due to this the price quoted can only be held valid for 14 days.
If you are after a unit urgently, Bob Miller at http://www.rdfantennas.com keeps a few on the shelf but usually charges a bit more for the service. Bob can also provide antennas suitable for the MK4 on 121 or 146MHz. The freight cost makes this unviable from Australia. However, if you are operating on a budget, there are a number of tape measure based designs available on the net. I have links for this on the web site.
There are a number of payment methods to consider:
1) Western Union is by far the quickest. They charge a nominal amount to do the transfer and supply you with a control number. You then need to forward this to me. You will need my contact details which are provided below.
2) Paypal, http://www.paypal.com is convenient and can be done on-line using a credit card. Funds take about 3-5 days to clear. The email address bryan at foxhunt.com.au<mailto:bryan at foxhunt.com.au> is registered with Paypal. For many this works out to be the easiest option.
3) International Money order. This must be converted into Australian dollars and then posted. It is probably the cheapest option but takes the longest.
4) Direct (wire) transfer using the Swift system. An additional $10 is required to cover fees at my end. Each bank has different charges with this system and you will have to check with your local bank. This method works best for larger orders.
Unless arranged otherwise, delivery is normally via insured post once payment has cleared and usually takes between 5 and 7 days to get to you. However, when order levels are low it is more efficient for me to despatch sniffers on Fridays only. This sometimes adds an additional delay. Please let me know if this is an issue and I will arrange to send your unit without this delay.
Regards,
Bryan Ackerly, VK3YNG.
