I will be doing something else, to my chagrin, but *you* can operate in
the ARRL SSB DX Contest, picking off band/mode/countries that you need.
For most of the club members, that is somewhere around [339 entities X 6
international contest bands (160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10) = 2034 specific
QSOs that you need for six-band, phone worked every DXCC entity. Maybe
you can get them all during this contest. If you succeed in doing this,
contact Terry, K3JT, immediately and he will buy you a bouquet of roses
and charge it to me. BTW, no one has ever done this in two days; I
don't throw money away on roses.

This news was in the ARRL Letter, but perhaps you missed it.

If you have no HF antenna, attach a hunk of wire to your tuner and throw
it out the window (the wire, not the tuner). This is best if you are
operating from the top floor of your house, or sitting on our repeater
tower immediately under our two-meter antenna, but don't sweat the small
stuff. Dig under your CW keyers, straight keys, bug keys, sidewinder
keys and copy paper, dig up a copy of the international phonetics, find
the old hand microphone that came with your rig, that you never use, and
give it a try.

I will miss this because I will be picking up heavy objects and putting
them down again. Remember, "It ain't gonna lift itself."

DX IS.

73,

Jan, KX2A
