Over the past couple of months I have been playing around with an APRS
iGate to cover the Morgantown area, the iGate has now turned into a full
blown digipeater/iGate.
Pieced together with some spare parts and a hand built circuit, I am
repeating APRS information from within a range of about 25 miles from my
location. With an output power of 25 Watts, I seem to be covering most of
Morgantown and down to Fairmont.
The antenna I have, it is not very high so there are some dead spots around
Morgantown, but Morgantown has some pretty dead areas for RX anyway.
I would hope at some point, we can maybe get the digipeater, either this
setup or something working back at the original site of which I believe was
on the Chestnut ridge repeater site.
Just thought I would spread the word about it, so some of you can maybe get
back to using APRS in the near future.
My setup has been pretty reliable, I have been repeating for a couple of
weeks, with only 1 outage that I can recall.

If you want to look around and see what is going on with APRS, www.aprs.fi
will show you local APRS stations, weather stations scattered around, more
Digipeaters and moving APRS position reports.
Have a great weekend everyone, I shall speak to you all soon on the Monday
net, if not before.
73, KD8YNY Dean.
