As I mentioned at the meeting on Tuesday, I have been fiddling around with Survey Monkey to create a basic series of surveys for the club to assess the Amateur Radio hobby needs and desires of both current members, potential members and other area hams.  I think it can provide us sort of a baseline of information so that we can meet the needs of our friends in this area and to help drive our monthly club programs and events!  I was really encouraged these last few meetings at the increasing attendance and the enthusiasm within the group.  We need to pour gas on this fire as soon as we can so that we not only have a "good product to sell" our friends but also grow this fun hobby locally.

Of course, in all my excitement about creating the survey, I didn't read the directions before I got to creating the survey... and like in my childhood school days I got busted.  Grin.  It turns out that the FREE Survey Monkey version allows us 10 questions per survey.  I already have 14.  Grin.  Soooooooo... I'll have to bust it out into several surveys eventually to capture the answers we might want to explore.  In the meantime, I would like for folks to look at the questions and answers and offer your thoughts about other questions needed and additional answers I might have not included.  We might want to do the initial survey to merely capture a baseline of who are local hams are and what their current hobby status is.  Subsequent surveys could dive deeper into the various niches of the hobby they are involved in or want to see more information about at the club level.

Ultimately, it would be good to have the surveys prominently located on the MWA website and to also have a few printed versions available to hand out at every meeting when we have someone new show up.  It would show we truly want to engage with every ham and support their journey in Amateur Radio. The FREE version might be fine.  The paid version is a monthly fee and I don't see us using it that much to justify a subscription.  Does anyone already have access to Survey Monkey that we could tag along with?
