You are welcome to join us for the exam session.

The exams are given just before the Monongalia Wireless Association meeting
on the third Tuesday -- we do exams every other meeting. You are also welcome
to stay for the meeting and get to know some of the local hams.

The location is the Red Cross facility at White Birch Tower 1255 Pineview
Drive, Morgantown. We enter in the back of building 1 (between the two buildings)
and the entrance is on the 2nd floor-- we go up to the 3rd floor.

Exams start around 6:30 PM. You will need two forms of identification, one should
be a photo-ID. (Driver's license, work or school ID are usually OK)

The fee for the exam is $15 -- cash or check made out to ARRL-VEC.

We will have you fill out a Form NCVEC-605 which is your application to the
FCC. You will need to include your full legal name and mailing address, and
your Socual Security Number.

Most of the calculations on the Element 2 Qustion Pool are simple, so a calculator
should not be necessary.

Calculators
are permitted if they can be shown to not store exam answers. A simple
4-function or math function calculator is OK. Cell phone APPS are
discouraged
because they can store the entire question pool.

The examination consists of 35 multiple choice questioons and to pass the exam
you need 26 minimum correct (9 maximum wrong) The exams are graded immediately
and you are informed of the PASS/FAIL status. If you pass the exam, you will be
given a CSCE form (Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination).

The paperwork will be submitted to the ARRL-VEC within a day or two, and the
ARRL-VEC will electronically file the results with the FCC.

Once your name and new call sign appears in the FCC Database, you are permitted
to use your Technician privileges. This includes all Amateur privileges above
50 MHs and some limited access to morse code segments on 80m, 40m, 15m, and some
morse code and voice privileges on 10m.

We look forwared to meeting you on the 18th.

Hello James,
I am including Bob West on this reply. He's our exam coordinator and can answer your questions more accurately than I can.
Good luck on your exam.

Hi,
I'd like to take the test for technician class (possibly on October 20th). I've been studying at hamtestonline.com and
have been able to score in the 80 to 88% range consistently on practice exams their system generates.

Is there any information I need for this test? (Cost, etc...)
Thanks,
