from the QSO Radio Show.  The show covers a wide range of topics
for ham radio operators, shortwave listeners, and electronic hobbyists;
including balloon launches, Satellite, go-kits, emergency communications,
SDR, digital modes, DXing, home brewing, and more.

This week's guest include *Tim Rand, KK6VQQ*, who will be discussing his
return to amateur radio.  Tim was originally licensed in 1955 at the age of
13, active for about 5 years, and inactive for 5 decades.  During his
career he worked in research labs, science, and even Jet Propulsion Labs.
Tim just passed his general license last week, and instead of purchasing
radio gear, he will share his plans to home-brew his equipment from a
magnetic loop antenna to a fully home-brewed SSB transmitter and receiver.
His design will be unique as he uses SDR technology on the inside but uses
old fashioned technology and looks on the outside for an antique or old
school look.  He will also share some of his antique parts collection.

Our second guest, *Joe Eisenberg, K0NEB*, Kit Building Editor for CQ
Magazine, will share some of his new kit building projects, demonstrate
various pieces of equipment, and answer your questions.

Our live webcast of the *Huntsville Hamfest* will begin Friday, August 14
at approximately 8:00 AM CT (1300 UTC Friday)  We will webcast our 3.5 hour
drive live from Collierville, Tennessee to Huntsville, Alabama.  We will
continue webcasting from inside Hamfest during our set-up time, which will
also include other vendors. You never know who you might see or who will
be on the webcast!

Huntsville Hamfest officially begins Saturday at 9:00 AM CT (1400 UTC) and
ends at 4:30 PM CT. Hamfest continues Sunday at 9:00 AM CT and ends at 3:00
PM CT.  After packing up Sunday afternoon, we will webcast our 3.5 hour
drive home.  Forty-one prizes will be awarded to random participants in our
chat room during hamfest.  Our prizes include a wide range of products
including Yaesu handi-talkies and MFJ antenna analyzers, just to mention a
few!

The *Young Ham of The Year* awards will be webcast Saturday afternoon from
Huntsville Hamfest.  The award program is sponsored by the Los Angeles,
California-based Amateur Radio Newsline™ with corporate support from Yaesu
USA Corporation of Cypress, California, CQ Magazine of Hicksville, New
York, and Heil Sound of Fairview Heights, Illinois.
