Not to sound like a paranoid doomsday type, but what if this solar flare/CME were a lot larger. Say the size of the one experienced during the Carrington Event[1]. What effect would something like that have on our modern gear? Is the gear in danger even if powered down and disconnected? What could we do to protect it?
