Brian,

"Last Man Standing" is filmed on Stage 9 at CBS Studio Center in Culver City, California. (BTW, this is the same studio used for filming Seinfeld.)

Studio 9 is essentially a very large steel Quonset hut. According to the series producer, John Amodeo, the crew tried erecting several ham antennas near the ceiling of the soundstage, but the steel building blocks almost all the RF radiation in and out of the studio. So, if they have "real" operations during the show, it will more than likely be with another ham rig located in the studio but off the set.

My guess is that any QSOs will be simulated though. It's easier that way. When you are filming a live sitcom it can take four to six hours per show and you have to keep reshooting the same scenes over and over again. (That's called "resetting" in media talk.) Not very helpful with real QSOs.

BTW, I have a QSL card from the fictitious KA0XTT, but it is signed by the real Tim Allen.
