[W8MWA] Fwd: International Space Station Tonight

Bill, 

I believe that I saw the ISS go overhead right on time and coincident with the tracking from the ISSTracker web site. I couldn't get a photo of it, but it was clearly visible with the naked eye. 

To me it looked like an aircraft only moving quite quickly. I believe that I could faintly make out the solar panels coming out of the spacecraft's side.

Although there are two high altitude jetways that travel over Morgantown, I heard no sound what-so-over as the object passed overhead. Also there were no blinking red and green wing lights. Typically aircraft wing lights can been seen--especially at night. There was no evidence of a jet contrail--although those can't always been seen at night and the moon hadn't risen just yet. However, the time was right and the direction corresponded to what I expected, so I expect that it was the ISS.

There was no AFSK Packet Radio signal that was detectable on my HT on 145.825 MHz. Perhaps their packet radios were not operating.

At any rate, it was fun to peer into the night and I was grateful for the nearly 180 degree view that we have of the western night sky from our deck.
