Am sending this to you and ask that you forward it to other members of RAC.

Last Saturday at Field Day, we were informed that Carlos was in the
hospital. I contacted his wife to find out what happened.

Marlene informed me that they were visiting family in Iowa and Carlos had a
fainting spell, was admitted to a local hospital for testing, etc. It was
determined that he needed surgery. Decision was made that they wanted to
come back to PA for the surgery. The hospital would only discharge Carlos
if he promised to be admitted to a local hospital in PA.

They returned to PA and Carlos was immediately admitted to St. Vincent.
After doctors reviewed reports from Iowa, they decided that he did need a
triple bypass and repair of one heart valve. Surgery was successfully done
on Wednesday, June 28.

Doctors were concerned since his heart was not performing properly so they
implanted a pace maker on Friday, June 30, and the procedure went well.

There is concern with his breathing and are checking it out with a
pulmonologist.

I fear that he has an extremely long road ahead for recovery. Marlene would
like someone to take over the treasuer's job for the time being. She would
appreciate having help with finding someone to take over his duties.

Marlene is doing fairly well considing all that has happened. I will keep
in contact with her for support and information.  The family, I am sure,
would appreciate prayers for Carlos and the family.
