Radio Amateurs of Corry

Minutes for April 5, 2016


At 7:00 pm, a program entitled, “Amateur Radio at the State Fair” was presented.


At 7:30 pm, President N3NKV called the meeting to order.


Roll Call of Officers- Present: President N3NKV and Treasurer K3JAF.
Not Present: Vice President KB3QBA and Secretary KA3RDA.

In Absence of the Secretary, N3NKV took the minutes for the meeting.


President N3NKV read the Secretary's report for the March 1, 2016
meeting,   A motion to accept the Secretary's report as read was made
by K3JAF and seconded by N3RSN.  Motion carried.


Treasurer K3JAF gave the Treasurer's report.  A motion to accept and
file the Treasurer's report was made by N3RSN and seconded by KD3HAL.
Motion carried.


Bills and Communications:  None


Membership: None


VFW Breakfast: N3NKV noted that the club made $285 from the April 3rd
Breakfast.  This amount was low due to the inclement weather.  N3NKV
displayed one of the new signs that was placed on the local highways.
K3JAF reported that the next breakfast is May 29th.  K3JAF mentioned
that she is looking for someone to assist her in taking over as the
Breakfast Chairperson due to work responsibilities.   N3RSN thanked
those who made this breakfast a success: N3NKV, KB3UNV, and especially
Taylor Armagost (K3JAF’s Nephew).  N3RSN mentioned that we need to
have at least 7 people for a complete kitchen crew.  N3RSN made a
motion that the clubs reimburse N3NKV for sign making supplies up to
the amount of $20. Motion Seconded by KD3HAL.  Motion Carried


Repeater:  N3RSN mentioned that the repeater is working well. In a
couple of weeks, he will be visiting the site to do some maintenance
work and cut the grass. N3NKV mentioned that he was going to hold off
on discussion about the purchase of a new controller due to lack of
members present. N3RSN mentioned wants to wait to see if Yaesu is
going to be doing anything.  N3NKV reported he has been monitoring the
Yaesu System Fusion Yahoo group on a regular basis.  Presently, their
main focus is firmware updates so that the DR-1x will not lock up when
connected to the WIRES system.    N3RSN mentioned that he may be able
to donate paint for the repeater shed.

Website: N3NKV reported that it is in process of being updated.

Facebook:  No report

VE:  VE exams are given on the second Thursday of each month at the
Union City Elementary School.  Anyone who needs to be tested is asked
to get in touch with N3NKV. Always looking for Extra Class Operators
to join the VE team.  There will be an exam session held at 6:30 pm on
Friday June 24th at the Red Cross. Pre-Registration Required 48 hours
in advance to N3NKV. This will be one of the last exam sessions in the
area where you can take the old Extra Class Exam.

Classes: N3NKV reported they are on hold till fall. Someone needs to
contact Peter Albright to see if he will teach the class. Corry High
Ed will need to be contacted to see about scheduling a fall class.

Field Day:  Field Day will be held at the Sportsman's Club in
Spartansburg.  It was mentioned that the June meeting of the RAC will
be held at the Field Day Site.  K3JAF made a motion that the president
write a letter to formally invite the Union City Wireless Association
to Field Day. Seconded by N3RSN.  Motion Carried

Old Business:   N3NKV mentioned that the club would be having an
amateur radio display at the Spartansburg Fair from September 3 – 10,
2016.  K3JAF mentioned that we should have all of the information
about classes ready to distribute at the fair.

 New Business:

WX3E reported that he was appointed Western AREA PA RACES Chief.

May 14-16 will be the PEMA conference at Seven Springs

There will be a RACES and an ARRL Seminar at the Brezeshooters Hamfest.



Motion to adjourn was made by K3JAF and seconded by KD3HAL.  Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 8:10pm.
