On Monday August 27th we will be conducting a full scale exercise that will include the Erie County CERT Team (All Groups), Erie County HazMat, the County MACC and Erie County RACES/ACS.
The Scenario is an earthquake has struck the area and has caused moderate damage to severe damage. At 5:30 pm Erie County Dispatch will send out a text message announcing the drill. As like all responses, members of the teams come to the Public Safety Building where they will be assigned a task/function, etc. The time line is for all vehicles, trailers and personnel to depart the Public Safety Building by 6pm. The HazMat team will stage (Exercise compressed time) and wait to be “Officially” dispatched by the Comm Center. We expect to exercise until around 8pm. Those working in the EOC group will report to the EOC.
Unlike years past this year the CERT collapse Rescue Support Group will be utilizing the new “Rubble Pile” to perform rescues. ALL CERT USAR personnel should insure they wear sturdy work boots (safety boots). Helmets, Gloves, Eye Protection and N95 Dusk Mask will be MANDATORY if working on the “Rubble Pile”. Please check you CERT bags to ensure you have those pieces of equipment. If you do not Please let Janet Damico know so we can get you what you are missing.
When everyone returns to the Public Safety Building around 8pm we will have food available and will conduct a very quick hot wash of what went well and what needs work.
Kearsarge Fire Dept. will be drilling at the Training grounds as well so it will be busy.
If you have any questions please let Janet know (CERT Groups), Tim E. for HazMat Team Questions and Dave Wellman for RACES/ACS.
Thanks and hope we see all of you on Monday the 27th!!!
Dale Robinson
Emergency Management Coordinator
