Hello Paul,
I just read the latest QUA-RAE newsletter, as I do every month. At the end you asked for help in one form or another. Here are my thoughts.
<< Editor’s Thoughts
I’m tired. Burnt out. Coming up with new stuff for the QuaRae is becoming a chore. You could help
me by sending something, an article, your thoughts about ham radio, a cartoon, a story of something that happened to you. Actually just about anything would be appreciated. Does anybody actually read this club paper? >>
Yes, I read the newsletter every month. While I have not lived in Erie since 1976, I still feel attached to the club and interested in your activities. The photo and stories of activities, work parties and meetings are interesting. The level of community activity for a club of the size of the RAE is impressive. The group does honor to the memory of my father and his friends that created the club in September of 1945! Attached is a PDF of the original articles of incorporation.
Being an editor is hard work. I am still writing articles on my family history and that of the Bliley Electric Company. Here are links to two of my first articles for the blog on the Bliley Technologies' Web site. Feel free to link to them and/or a more elaborate variation on my own Web site. There are more to come in the year ahead. They may be fun to read about the good ol' days in Erie that relate to ham radio.

Also, last winter I decided to write a memoir of my live in the Coast Guard in 1968/69 on the Island of South Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands. I am now 71 and reflecting on my life for my children and grand children. This is a vanity project, and was intended to be viewed by only a handful of people.
A lot of the South Caicos Web page is about my ham radio activities there and how phone patches home were so important to many of my shipmates. I held the call sign of VP5CB for a year and maintained regular contacts with Erie hams, including my mother, Isabelle Bliley Kaiser, W3KPE, throughout the year. Check it out the page and link to it if you see any interest in it.
I will keep you and the RAE in up-to-date if you find these articles of interest. :-)
Do what you feel you need to do to find joy in this work, but from this man's point of view, it is appreciated. :-)
73,
Chuck
