EMA Partners,
The National Weather Service is contemplating significant changes to some
of our Winter Weather and Flood Watches, Warnings and Advisories. A link to
a few short surveys are below. We would appreciate if you could quick
take a small amount of time and complete them and help us with these changes.
Thanks
Gary
Late yesterday a national Public Information Statement (PNS) was released
by the Hazards Simplification project team requesting feedback on a proposed
changes to our Watch, Warning and Advisory messages for winter weather and
flooding. The surveys linked from the PNS (one for winter and one for
flooding) are the most important Haz Simp surveys to date, as the results will
drive the decision as to what changes we should consider making as part of
a possible operational demonstration later this year.

The surveys will be open until May 31, 2017. Each will take 10-15 minutes
to complete.

There are two elements to the current proposal, as displayed in these
surveys. The first is to "consolidate" (reduce the number of) products within
the Watch, Warning and Advisory (WWA) suite for winter and flooding pr
oducts. The second is to reformat our winter weather and flood WWA messages to
simplify the body text and achieve national formatting consistency.

These proposals are based on feedback from the previous surveys you have
helped us promote and social science research associated with the project.

We are asking that you please promote these surveys with a "top news"
headline on your office web site. Please also directly promote these surveys
with your partner networks.
