Subject: NCW UPDATE
I met with supervisory and line staff rangers at the PI ranger station on
Sunday 10-18-15 and they are a go for help from the NCW radio team at
Presque Isle. The scenario examples I gave were severe weather event with
damage reports, posting to watch for a lost child and fire watch during
"fuzzy" season. I was specific in that we were ONLY to be eyes and ears for
the rangers. At no time would any radio operators be involved in any way
that involved advising/telling/directing park visitors anything. No traffic
control/directing. A call-out process would be by email/text/phone with
rally point info provided at that time.
Communications processes between NCW net-control and the rangers is being
worked on.
Remember, I am calling for a NCW meeting, Saturday 10-24-15 at 1 pm at the
PI Ranger station. When you enter ask for the conference room . We will use
the meeting for questions, procedural information and how to fill out the
Conservation Volunteer application.
There have been some questions about becoming a conservation volunteer-----Q
= why do we have to do it? I already do radio stuff at PI with RAE. Answer =
Events with RAE are requested by the race events and arranged by RAE.
--------------NCW is specifically to help the rangers and covers the state
requirements for volunteers on state property. So we do have to become
conservation volunteers.
THE COUNTY HAS CHANGED OUR EMAIL ADDRESSES = please update my address for
