Over a year and a half ago, not long after moving to McKeanand when I began going to the Club House fairly frequently, I was observed byour neighbor next door, (I think his name is Joe,) going at an excessive speed on the road to theClub. He reported this, and rightfully so, to one of the club members, who inturn admonished me. (rightfully so again.) Since that time, I can say with totalconfidence that I never once exceeded 20-25MPH on the road. I always look at myspeedometer, without fail, every time I am on that street. Coming and going.

Yesterday I went there in the late afternoon, and I without a doubt, I recall seeing 24MPH when I looked at my speedometer. When I got back into the car to leave, I saw a man waving to me andapproaching from the house next door. I had never met him, but assumed it was,of course, the neighbor. I politely got out of the car to meet him. I will not quotewhat he said because I do not recall accurately enough, but the jest of it was thatI was going too fast, "again" he stated. The speed limit was 30MPHand pointed to the sigh outside the club.
I decided immediately not to be argumentative, but I did saythat I was not going more then 25, but if he things I was going too fast, Iwill slow it down to closer to 20 in the future. He said a thing or two more, nothing terrible and, it looked to me, was going into the club house.

Earlier today when I called a club member to talk, heindicated that the neighbor had spoken to him.

If I was going over 30MPH, or 25, or 20 for that matter, when I passed his house, how did I ever make the turn into the club? I wouldsurely have wound up in the woods head on with a tree. If he was looking a 100yards up the road as I approached and "saw me" going over 30MPH, heis probably better than any police officer with years of experience, in his abilityto judge the speed of a oncoming car, at distance, without any assistance.

I stand by my insistence that I was not going over 25MPHthat afternoon.
I know he a good neighbor to us and will leave it at that.
