GM ALL...Below is the general information for both of this weekend.s
contests.

As an attachment are the full rules for the VHF contest. Apparently the
web site for the SSB contest is down. I will try again later and send it
along. If it remains down, I left a copy of the rules for last w/e CW portion
and they basically are the same. Key points being 100 watt maximum power and
exchange is a name that all operators must use throughout the contest,
even if running separate rigs.We used MIKE for the CW contest, but learned
that a simpler one, such as ED goes faster and easier for the other station to
copy.

For what I heard on last nights 9:00 net, it looks like so far we can
expect 3-4 people in addition to the one's that were there last weekend, who I
am assuming will be there at some point in the contests this w/e. It also
looks like we will have operators interested in the VHF contest. BTW...As the
power limit in the SSB contest is 100 watts, there will be no concern re:
the implications of running the Amp. with other rigs on at the same time.
But it will be an issue soon...Not in my expertise what to do about this, so
those club members who know what should be done, please discuss in a
different thread than this one...73's...Mike...WB3DEL

Good idea Craig....If you, and anyone else who wants to, would bring the
software install programs over on disk and install it on the computer, I
will make a folder on the Desktop called "TEST LOGGING PROGRAMS, and place the
logging program in there, it will then be available for all to try out,
evaluate, and make a well educated vote. Also, being the computers are old,
it will determine if the program can even be loaded on the computer. John
and I had to install an older version of N3fjp's Program because the newest
release would not install. The older one has 98% of what the new one has
though...73,s Mike...Wb3del

Why not wait until we put a couple logging programs on the computer before

we vote on which one to keep. That way people will have a chance to see
the
features of the various programs and will be better informed on what they
want. I have never used N3EQF so I would like to play with it before I
vote. BTW I'll also miss the next meeting as I'll be in Florida.

Have to apologize here. I am overstepping by assuming that N3FJP's Master
Logging Program be used by the Club in general. If there are other
suggestions or preferences out there for our Master Log, and we have
already heard
some, then perhaps it would be best to discuss and make a decision/choice
at the next meeting. I will be away on vacation that week and will miss
the
meeting....SOOOO. May I place an absentee vote for N3JFP's??

GM All...Just a reminder...We have two contests we plan to operate in this
weekend, Jan. 18-19..The North American QSO Party-SSB and the ARRL January
VHF Party. Depending on attendance for the SSB contest, we could consider
using 2 stations. So please try to contact me if you intend to operate
this
one. I would have to try to get the logging program installed and working
in the associated computer. For the time being, I intend to use the N3FJP
logging program for the SSB contest, as we did for the CW one last
weekend.
For the VHF contest, N3FJP also has a program, but fine if whoever is
working it wants to use a different one as long as he, (or she), can
integrate
it into our N3FJP Master Amateur Log when the contest is over.

I do not see anything of interest the w/e of 11/25-11/26, but if anyone
sees one they would like to operate in, post your interest so we can all
consider to possibly join you. Below, if you do not have it, is the link
for
the whole years Contest Calendar...

_Contest Calendar: Home_ (http://www.hornucopia.com/contestcal/)

Looking forward...Feb. 1 - 2 there is the 10-10 International Winter
Contest-SSB. Do we have a 10-10 number?

For those of us that are single (or married), Feb. 8-9 the YL-ISSB QSO
Party-CW (LOL!). Don't see much else those first 2 weekends of Feb. Does
anyone?

Feb. 15 - 16 is a big one...ARRL International DX Contest-CW. Followed
March 1-2 with the SSB one.I hope we can have a lot of participation in
these
and have several rigs running. Even if you are not a CW man, come down and
help log!! No CW necessary. Whoever is operating will give you the
contact
exchange and call to enter..Very easy! Same goes for the SSB...Do logging
if you are not into contesting.

Fingers are tired...73's...Mike...WB3DEL
