Hi...John a few weeks ago set up the computer with N3FJP's General Logger.
I hv been using it for all my contacts as has John. We are downloading all
contest logs to it also. Yesterday, at the Club, Ron, WB3DOM and I were
discussing just what u r suggesting, Ron knows more about it then I, but I
believe he said all it would take now that we hv a computer log set up, is a
special cable from the ts-2000 to the computer and we are all set! I agree,
it would be a cheap and productive addition now, especially for contesting.

Ron...Correct me if I am wrong....73....Mike WB3DEL

I think it would be nice for the club to set up computer logging and with
the computer logging, also CW sending. Just about every year I operate as

DX. Let's suppose W3ABC calls me. I type W3ABC in the logging screen and
then hit 1 on the extended keyboard. This automatically sends W3ABC 5nn .
W3ABC then sends his report to me and I hit 2 on the extended keyboard
which
sends tu MJ/K3PLV up. Then I hit F1 and W3ABC is logged with the
operating
frequency and mode automatically entered in the log. The memories can be
changed for any reply and there are 10 of them, 1 through 10 on the
extended
keyboard. I also can hit Ctrl K and type what I want and what I type will
be automatically sent as CW. If I have access to a paddle, I can also use
that to make comments. So if someone I know calls me, I can chat with
them
for a minute and then continue with the pile up. This is not at all
expensive and is easy to set up. Also for the people that prefer to log
and
send CW the old conventional way, they can still do that. Comments?

GM ALL...Those participating in the contest were:

John...WB3IFD
Ron...WB3DOM
Mike...Sorry, forgot his call, but I believe he is the Secretary
Mike...WB3DEL

I started off (shakily) at contest start, 1:00, with Mike logging. I
quickly found out I could no longer copy 30-35 WPM!! We managed only 7
contacts
in the first 20 min. After a while I discovered it was much better to
finish the contact completely, then, when done pass the info to Mike. .
It
allowed me to concentrate better. Started gaining speed...John showed up
with
coffee for me (thank you!). After about a half hour of sweat pouring off
me, Ron arrived, sat down with pen and paper and started calling off
exchanges
to Mike to enter in the log. I was able to relax, concentrate on my
sending, and not worry about trying to copy 35 WPM. WHAT A RELIEF!!

After I had been on the key for an hour, Ron took over with a beautiful
Vibroplex straight key. I had been using my Kent Dual Paddle and was having
problems with it.
He started rattling off contacts at a fast pace. We had started on 10M then
he switched to 15M. After a while we all took a break to chat. I got back
on for a while, then Ron took it. and eventually switched to 20M. Another
break...More chatting...2 or 3 more contacts and we decided to call it a
day
at about 4:00

Results: 3 hours airtime

Have not checked the log yet but...

Contacts 72
Multipliers 28
Score 2016

Not too bad, I thing, considering we must have spent at least 45 minutes
off air shooting the breeze.

Next contests we will participate in is the weekend of Jan. 18..The North
American QSO Party-SSB and also The ARRL January VHF Contest. Need
operators and loggers!! Or if you just come to kibitz, (Goggle it!!)
that's fine.

Please contact me if you can come via e-mail or Cell# 814-795-4501, OR JUST
SHOW UP!!

73's...Mike...WB3DEL
