Upcoming Bylaws Change Vote

At the Membership meeting on September 11, 2024, we will be voting on a few changes to the DVRA Bylaws.

I made the proposed changes, and in late July, the Board of Directors reviewed the changes, and voted to present them to the general membership for further review.

Please review the Bylaws document marked-up with changes on the website link below including the final proposed version:

20th International EME [Earth-Moon-Earth] Conference – August 9-11, 2024

The 20th International EME [Earth-Moon-Earth] Conference will be held at the College of New Jersey from August 9-11, 2024. The conference was last held in the United States 14 years ago. The DVRA will be helping out during the conference.

During the conference, the club shack will host conference participants taking the EME101 class with operations from the W2ZQ EME station on Friday afternoon. The club shack will also be open in the evenings for extended hours so that conference participants can drop by to see everything the DVRA has to offer.

HamClock DIY Workshop – September 7th, 2024

On Saturday morning, September 7th, at 10:00am, the Delaware Valley Radio Association will present a “HamClock DIY” workshop at the club shack.

HamClock is free software that displays a world map, gray line, propagation, and other info of interest to hams, all on one Monitor. You may have seen it on the large monitor at the W2ZQ shack.

Each attendee will be able to construct their own HamClock for $30 (about half the cost of buying one retail).

Participants will learn about and assemble a Raspberry Pi single-board computer, and will install and
configure the HamClock software and customize it for use in their own shack.

Everyone is invited, whether building a HamClock or not.

The workshop is now filled, so we’re no longer accepting registrations.
If there’s enough interest, we can run another workshop in the future.

Contact Rich Freedman, N2EHL at [email protected] if you are interested in a future workshop or have any questions.

Seminar: Managing 12 Volts – Power Supplies, Batteries, Wiring , and Connectors – Sept. 28th

Another informative seminar for DVRA members!

There’s a lot to learn in the hobby of Amateur Radio, but one of the first considerations should be how to power your mobile equipment safely.

This hands-on workshop will be packed with information. Topics such as battery types, wire size, and distribution panels will be discussed plus a whole lot more.

There will also be a demonstration on how to properly install Anderson Powerpoles and other connectors. Participants can bring their own radio power cables and learn to install connectors on their own equipment.

For questions or more information please contact Gary, K2GW at [email protected]
