Workshop: Understanding and Applying Smith Chart Basics – July 22nd at 10AM

The Antenna Committee will hold a construction event on Saturday, September 23^rd at 10am at the W2ZQ station.  We will review basic antenna theory and then build, tune and test a 10/15/20m vertical antenna. A vertical antenna’s maximum gain is at a low take off angle and therefore a good DX antenna.  The antenna will be built on a telescoping fiberglass pole and will demonstrate construction techniques at a fraction of the cost of a commercially available antenna. .

W2ZQ PARKS ON THE AIR (POTA) ACTIVATION NEAR BOWMAN’S HILL TOWER ON 9/30/2023

DVRA Members and Non-Member Guests: Come out and join us on Saturday morning, September 30, 2023 in the field and picnic area adjacent to the West side of the parking lot at Bowman’s Hill Tower in Upper Makefield, PA. Directions: 40°19’32.8″N 74°56’21.3″W – Google Maps This location is part of Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania’s State Historical Park (K-6432) as W2ZQ plans to conduct a hilltop Parks On The Air (POTA) activation. Weather permitting, we’ll begin setting up at 8:30 AM and be fully operational by 10:00 AM, and we plan to operate for three hours until 1:00PM. Join us for the 8:30 setup or just to observe, or to operate at a time of your choosing between 10am and 1pm.

Members, join us to compete in the New Jersey QSO Party Contest on Saturday Sept. 16th

Members are invited to come to the shack on Saturday between noon and midnight to partake in the contest fun and to socialize.

The contest is only 12 hours, and FT8 is now an accepted mode of operation (as long as you can program the contest exchange).
