Hi all:

We frequently look for community service activities to lend our communications skills to.  Here is a request from our NJ regional OEM (Office of Emergency Management) coordinator, originating from the Red Cross of NJ, for assistance with disaster communications.  Although Chief Gutsick is asking for CERT HAMs, I would imagine that the Red Cross would gladly accept help from any HAM, regardless of affiliation.

Subject: Red Cross HAM request

Hi Guys,

I just spoke to the Chief and we have the following request below----please let me know ASAP how many of us can do this----I will collect the names and get back to them - please advise, thank you!

"The Red Cross in New Jersey is looking for Amateur Radio (HAM) Operators to assist in disaster communications. I have been tasked with finding these HAMs.

I am hoping that you can help me in contacting HAMs that are CERT members or work with you in RACES and ARES. We are not looking to take away from your workforce, but to identify HAMs who can help when the disaster is in another area of the state. The HAMs would be acting as partners and not Red Cross members.

All Red Cross disaster training orientations are free.

Any help you can provide in getting this information to your teams is greatly appreciated."

Please respond back to me when you can with anyone that would be interested....The chief wants me to coordinate this to minimize emails.

Thanks guys
