Hello Cherryville!

Just received the email from John Crovelli, W2GD, regarding his decision to run for ARRL Hudson Division Director and am sure all of you have as well.  I have known John for almost 40 years and am proud to call him my friend.  In my opinion, John is an excellent example of what an amateur radio operator should strive to be. He has guided me through many steps in my journey in ham radio. 

John has been a member of CRA as well as serving as club president in years back. He and others like him have contributed to the advancement of CRA, and of amateur radio in general, leading by example. I greatly admire his numerous contributions to the club and to amateur radio across the world. 

I will not go into detail about his achievements as he has presented them concisely in his original letter. What I will say is that I believe that John has recognized a need for a person with his talents and expertise to represent the New York/New Jersey area hams on the ARRL’s board. He has seen the ARRL changing over the last few years in a direction that is not true to its original vision. 

It is a great privilege and pleasure to recommend that each and every member of CRA not only vote for him in the upcoming Hudson Division election but also to encourage your fellow hams in other clubs to follow suit. 

I know John will be a fair representative of the entire population of amateurs in the Hudson Division and will be open to hearing everyone’s point of view.  I hope you will cast your votes in his favor and support him as he attempts to earn this office and keep ARRL true to the vision and values of Hiram Percy Maxim when he formed the organization many years ago.
