[W2CRA] Our Saturday event with the MS society

W2CRA enthusiast,

We had a great event last Saturday!

Our club, along with a volunteer from the Sussex Radio club, provided radio coverage for a 50 mile bike race.  This was a fund raiser for the MS society.  The race started at the Spruce Run Recreational Area, ran all the way to Frenchtown, then along the river, and proceeded back up hill to Spruce Run.

We had a challenge to provide coverage for the two rest stops along the Delaware river.  George (AC2NX) operated out of the Frenchtown area, (Kingwood boat launch) and was able to hit the 444.850 repeater after maneuvering to a good spot.

Rob (WA2RT), however had a challenge with the Bulls Island area.  He had to go up the road a bit to hit the repeater.  With the help of Mike (KD2ZZA) they were able to have a person at the rest stop, and relay via HT simplex to make their reports.  Well done!
