On May 3, 2023, the FCC now requires all amateur licensees to conduct RF exposure evaluations.

This update was reported on the ARRL website on 5/5/2023.

The ARRL website features an RF Exposure landing page with resources, including an RF exposure calculator.

I have used the calculator for a vertical, quarter wave antenna operating at 100 watts across 40M, 20M, and 15M. As you might expect, the 40M and 20M bands require a couple of feet from the antenna for safe distance from the RF field.

The 15M band, operating at, say, 21.3 mHz requires a minimum safe distance of 2.8 feet from the vertical antenna.

I printed out the Exposure Calculator results and will be carrying them with me to POTA parks and other public venues...just in case someone asks about RF exposure safety!
