All,
Jane (KD2OAP) and I (WB1GOT) are currently in lead roles for attempting to acquire one or more ARDC
https://www.ampr.org/ grants. I have the "techie" end and Jane is looking at the rest as well as acting as the CRA
point of contact.
We jointly solicit your ideas, to be shared on this list and ONLY on this list.
Conditions:
1. Remember that we provide Community Service Through Communication.
The ARDC grants want us to "prove" that so ALL submissions must reflect the community and ham radio.
2. Keep it reasonable
Please use some "common" sense as to what might be practical 360 deg. around.
3. Provide details!
If you REALLY think we should have it, then it is up to YOU to do the legwork.
4. Be SPECIFIC about WHY we want / need to do this.
Your verbiage just might find it's way into the grant request.
5. What is it going to cost?
Consider ALL costs: the thing, cost to get it here, cost to connect / install it, cost to maintain it,
ongoing / recurring costs (which, by the way, will come out of the CRA treasury - not the grant.
6. Unfortunately it must be said: RTFM!
ARDC has been VERY free in sharing some examples of their prior grants, general rules, terms,
conditions and the like. If your idea fits and CRA needs it will likely fly.
It also needs to be said - do NOT call them, E_Mail them or otherwise contact ARDC - especially
as a "representative" of CRA. Just think about your idea and submit it here. There are no truly bad ideas - just
ones that, for reasons, we (CRA) can't afford.
Later I'll post a couple of examples (and a story) of great ideas but, for reasons explained, are impractical.
Questions and thoughtful comments are always appreciated,
Bill - WB1GOT
