Hello, it's me (again)
This is the course that I took the hard way, entirely self-study online last May. Here we are 11 months later and now the course will be offered online viz Zoom and be limited to 30 people per group. The extra bonus is that you can take EC-001 at the same time and not have to complete it and the other FEMA online courses before taking the advanced course.
EC-016 – Mid-Atlantic Video Conference Course
The Mid-Atlantic ARESMAT video conference offering “Public Service Emergency Management for Radio Amateurs” (EC-016) will start on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 7 pm eastern time. The EC-001 “Introduction to Emergency Communication” is a pre-requisite to this course. Completion of FEMA requirements can be accomplished concurrently or after the video conference version.
Background & Format:
The EC-016 course will be interactive discussion-based learning utilizing secure Zoom video conference format. The content will be the same as designed for the online or classroom course using Powerpoint slides, group discussions, and Participant Guide. The primary instructor will lead the discussion based on course content with the participants, while other members of the Mid-Atlantic ARESMAT leadership team will be invited to assist with discussions and add related experiences.
· Computer with internet capability to sign into the secure Zoom video conference.
· PowerPoint slides containing discussion topics and sample questions/answers will be displayed on your computer screen.
· Duplex audio is provided through computer permitting discussions and questioning.
· If you have a camera on your computer, not required, others will be able to see you.
· Duration for each session anticipated to be 1.5 hours each. Enabling completion of the course content in six sessions, if participants desire additional discussion time, it could be arranged.
Proposed Schedule:
Start on Monday April 19th 2021 at 7:00 PM Eastern time. Sessions will continue one per week, April 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17 and 24. A separate Zoom video conference access will be issued for each session. Typically, the day following a session the primary facilitator will send a copy of the power-point slides from the completed session to each participant. Class size will be limited to 30 to ensure ability of discussion and questions.
