I also read about hydrogen peroxide. Note:
The main problem is that hydrogen peroxide is not stable; it starts breaking down into water and oxygen even before the bottle has been opened. It breaks down even more rapidly once it is exposed to air or light.

I read a report of a medical group who determined that PPE could be sanitized with H2O2 vapor for safe reuse. Perhaps your daughter's hospital could institute such a procedure.

Until she's able to pursued her administration to set such a program up, she might consider spritzing her N95 masks with H2O2 at the end of each shift.
be well, G.

Subject: [W2CRA] Appeal for PPE Dear radio club member, I hope this message finds you well, occupied, and in good spirits in spite the confinement. I am writing to appeal to you, on behalf of our daughter Tina and her colleagues, to share N95 or P95 masks if available to you or your acquaintances. Our daughter Tina works in the ICU of a large NYC hospital. My wife and I spoke with Tina a few days ago, and she described how bad the situation is regarding N95 masks: They are running out of masks. At first, they wore 1 mask/patient, then 1/day, now 1/7-10 days. My wife and I were able to find 6 such masks and sent them to Tina a month ago. Maybe you do not use them to cut your grass, do sanding, construction, or painting projects. Maybe you don’t have allergies but other people might and so have masks on hand. Do you have any? Can you think of someone who uses them and might share. Of course I am talking about what you or other people don’t need. Even if it is only one mask, it can make a difference! Tina also told us about the virus and a few horror stories about it. Among them, people in their twenties or thirties, without previous conditions, are dying from this virus and their families are only allowed to visit them once (if they’re dying, to say goodbye). Doctors are struggling to treat patients as the way this virus acts is not yet understood. It is not comparable to the flu. Tina is afraid that some people might not take the current situation seriously and go out and spread the virus or be contaminated by it and then hospitals will see wave after wave of ill patients. She mentioned thatthe hospital staff is already quite tired and quite affected by all they see, along with the worry that they do not have adequate protection. The regular gown they used to wear over their scrub has been replaced by a gown with plasticized material, so they are sweating from it and the masks and gloves while often dealing with terminally ill patients. So the situation is dire. Thank you for your efforts in searching for these masks for us. If you do find any, kindly forward them to our address and we will will send them to Tina and her colleagues. If you don't know our address, send me an email, and I will send it to you by email. Please stay well and safe. 73, Tom Kachnowski, AB2FG______________________________________________________________
