Binnacle House Run

Hello CRA members, here is the information for the Binnacle House Run on
Sept 14, this Saturday.  This run will occur on the Delaware canal path,
close to the river.

We will meet at 0700 at the parking lot for Frenchtown.  It is on the left,
just before crossing the bridge into PA.  We should be done by 12 noon.

The parking lot will be our control station, it is marked control on the
maps.

I’m including 4 maps:

1-    an overview of the whole course

2-    a North map

3-    a South 1 map

4-    a South 2 map.

I will have maps available at the control station.

I have scouted parking places, the ones marked are close to the trail.

It would be great to get as many ops as possible.  Some of the parking
spots do not have bathroom facilities, if we double up, one could man the
station if the other needs a bathroom break.

We will use the club simplex frequency 147.540.  Please bring a 5W HT,
spare battery, or a second radio if you have one.

It would be great to bring your equipment to the club meeting on Friday for
a radio check.

Normal amateur radio rules apply, identify with your full call every 10
minutes after a transmission, for in-between, you can use abbreviated call
signs – just your suffix.

The control station has the contact info for EMS and police.  If assistance
is needed, call CRA control, and we will contact the right people.

There is a long stretch of the trail, south of the Kingwood boat ramp that
has no access from Rt29.  If we have enough people it would be good if
someone could hike into that area for coverage.

*Checklist*:

·       One good fully charged HT, at least 5W with spare battery, or
second HT.

·       Works on 147.54 simplex

·       Camp chair

·       Water, snacks

·       Sun protection, maybe rain :(
