Hams in ENY:



    West Point concluded a successful fundraiser by fellow hams across country that allowed us to purchase a Flex-6700 and Maestro for our station allowing cadets to have access to the latest and best in direct sampling SDR technology.



     We are expecting the Flex here sometime next week.   In the meantime, Cadet Blake Wilson has been tearing up the HF bands with his extra class license and on our station using our club call.  https://www.qrz.com/db/KD2OUQ   This is what our club is all about.  Letting these young hams have a quality place to let them continue their passion for ham radio.



     I have passed on the torch to LTC Stephen Hamilton - KJ5HY as the new officer in charge of W2KGY as I move on to my next military assignment this summer.



     He just as well as I continue to extend open invitations to the ham community to visit us.  We still maintain our Collins S line station, the Heathkit SB-101, IC-781, and IC-756PROIII.  We are also working through a construction project to install a M2 Antenna Systems rotator and sat antenna array and also a HF tower for a yagi hopefully by October.





       In addition, West Point is launching two weather balloons on 21 April.  Look out for W2KGY-11 and W2KGY-13 (and W2KGY-12 as backup) on APRS.  current models have us launching around between Hamilton and Sherburne, NY and expecting it to land near Poughkeepsie.  If for some reason you see it landing near your QTH, feel free to attempt retrieval and call phone number listed on it as we will be chasing it down.
