There will be an Exercise covering NNJ and SNJ - ARES and RACES

Gotham Shield is a Regional Exercise by the Red Cross, funded by FEMA,
to help test how the agency would respond to a major disaster in the NY
region.

Communications wise, the test aims to find out strengths and weaknesses
in response when EMP takes out cell phones and electronics in the
affected areas, roughly a 20 kilometer circle, and there has to be a
response for a mass casualty incident. The exercise will look at what
happens when the phones are out on the commercial side, and how
government nets(800 MHZ and MARS), their support nets (ARES/RACES), and
EmComm and r egular ham nets communicate in passing exercise traffic.
Drill date is Wednesday, April 26th,
