Hello Everyone!!

 

A huge THANK YOU to all those who were able to assist in this past Saturday's CRA Hamfest!!  I'm sorry that those of you that could not attend will have to wait until the 2017 Hamfest to hopefully see another CRA superb turnout of vendors and hams from the tri-state area.  

 

Looking back over the months of effort with various meetings, discussions, mailings, etc. we really could not predict what the day of the Hamfest would bring.  The result however has certainly given us a template for next year with lessons learned both pro and con.  To note a few "pros": VE testing was highly successful.  Bill Thiele's FLEX SDR station was a huge success.  (The 40/20/10 dipole magically appearing over the high school worked wonders!) Gene from KJI Electronics , Kathy from Suader Electronics with her parts supplies, and a new addition, Kai from KB Cubed, brought digital technology to us and gave a 45 minute presentation on it and the radios/antennas he sold.  And it was great to meet our ARRL Hudson Division Vice Director, Bill Hudzik (W2UDT) who also had a table.  The ARRL's support and advertising was a big help over the past few months. 

 

Attendance was high, vendor tables were filled, and the weather was with us.  It did not happen without the efforts of many hams and those who supported them.  I know that having the success of our yearly fund raising Hamfest behind us will serve us well going forward with CRA's scheduled efforts to our community.  And I might add that Field Day is just around the corner also!

Subject: [W2CRA]  2016 Hamfest

 

Hello everyone!!

 

Our Hamfest is this weekend and is our only fund raising activity for the club for the year.  We need all members to 

participate.  Details are as follows:

 

Setup:  Instead of our regularly scheduled club meeting on 11 March 2016, we will be setting up the cafeterias at the North Hunterdon High School for the hamfest.  We are not allowed entry into the school until approximately 7 PM.  Whoever can, please meet at the club trailer at the Route 12 county complex between 5:30 and 6:00 PM and we will load the club tables, PA system, and other items into cars and pickup trucks to transport to the high school. We will be at the high school around 6:30 PM and rearrange the cafeteria tables to suit our needs, install a Public address system, and do everything needed for the next day.  This will take until about 8:30PM.

 

On Hamfest is on Saturday, 12 March, 2016.  It opens at 6:30 AM to allow vendors to set up their tables.  The buyers are allowed in starting at 8:00 AM.  We need every club member there to support the event.  The hamfest usually ends between 12:00 noon and 1:00PM.

 

Takedown:  After the hamfest we then have to remove all of our stuff and restore the cafeteria to its original condition.  We will transport our stuff back to the trailer at the county complex.  

 

BTW, during the vendor unloading/loading at the beginning and end of the hamfest, Gene, K2KJI needs help.  I promised him some assistance. Please help out.
