I received the below email from Katy Lido about support for the Skylands
Tour de Cure cycling event to raise money for the American Diabetes
Association. There are four cycle tours over 100, 63, 30 and 13 miles
going on at the same times. Most of the routes are in Somerset and
Morris counties with some in northern Hunterdon county.
The CRA board discussed this event and decided it would not be a club
event but would be up to individuals to participate if they wished. So
far Kurt KR2C and Tony W2HWW expressed interest in supporting this
event. If any others want to, please contact Tony W2HWW and sign up.
Additional information:
The event is Sunday, June 7 and the routes are as follows:
100 mile – departs 6:30 a.m.
65 mile – departs 8:00 a.m.
30 mile – departs 10:00 a.m.
13 mile – departs 11:00 a.m.
They are responsible for the communications, getting the repeater(s)
needed, manning net control, etc.
They have 5 rest stops: Mendham, Gilette, Far Hills, Bedminster &
Tewskbury, with a smaller water stop in Liberty Corner. They also have 4
(possibly 5) support and gear (SAG) vehicles which will operate in zones
between rest stops, as well as one roving bike mechanic and three
mechanics stationed at rest stops.
Ideally they will have one driver and one radio operator per SAG
vehicle; if they have enough volunteers, an additional one radio
operator per rest stop. Each route will have a motorcycle lead, with
motorcycles stationed at several key intersections, and route marshals
on bicycles with one dedicated sweeper.
The event will close down between 3 and 4 PM in the afternoon.
The routes can be found at:

Hello - I found your information online. I manage the Skylands Tour de Cure cycling event to benefit the American Diabetes Association. The event on Sunday, June 7 in Basking Ridge (riding into parts of Hunterdon). I'm looking for some Ham radio operators to provide support on our routes. Is this something your group might be interested in? I see that you provide community support; I've been a lifetime Hunterdon resident and sure would appreciate the consideration. Please let me know either way. Thanks so much!
